Restoration, Basement Conversion, and Remodel

The Owner’s vision was to restore the exterior of the historic Ben Smith house in Noe Valley to its original glory. At the same time, the house needed significant interior repairs, having sat without maintenance of any kind for decades since its original construction in 1893. Historic detail was restored wherever possible as part of a complete interior remodeling that brought the home up to present-day standards of comfort and amenity. The existing maze of unfinished storage areas on the ground story was opened-up to the upper level and converted into an expanded living space with an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) apartment.
